Description
Scope and content: A small amount of materials providing information about historic preservation in general and in Tennessee. Most folders contain less than five items, and often only a single item. Materials include several "how-to" guides, focusing especially on historical research and including guides, bibliographies, and similar types of materials. An illustrated report (circa 2005) from the Tennessee Preservation Trust examines the economic impact of historic preservation efforts on communities throughout Tennessee, providing statistics and brief summaries of specific projects, and includes numerous color photographs.
Preferred Citation of Described Materials

Terms Governing Use and Reproduction
Some items may be restricted by copyright law or donor restriction. Some items produced by federal, state, or local government are in the public domain.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Intentionally assembled by staff of the Special Collections Division, beginning at an unknown date, probably in the late 1960s, and collected on an ongoing basis.
Location of Other Archival Materials
Related materials: Numerous collections elsewhere in the Special Collections Division of the Nashville Public Library relate to the subject of historic preservation, particularly as it relates to specific structures, neighborhoods, or other local or regional efforts. Perhaps some of the most closely related materials are those produced by Historic Nashville, Inc., a local preservation advocacy group. In addition, programs from preservation award ceremonies conducted by the Metropolitan Historical Commission can be found in the Communities Ephemera Subject Files.
